A New Hope for a Safe Birth in Gaza
Welcome a New Life with Care — Give a Mother and Her Newborn a Safer, More Dignified Start
  • Every month in Gaza, thousands of new lives begin amid circumstances no mother or newborn should ever have to face.

Approximately 5,000 to 5,500 babies are born in Gaza every month, while healthcare services remain under immense pressure and essential medical and personal-care supplies are increasingly difficult to access.

More than 50,000 pregnant women are also facing serious challenges in accessing healthcare, nutritional supplements, and basic necessities throughout pregnancy and after childbirth.

With malnutrition and anemia affecting mothers and children, proper care during pregnancy and after delivery has become more critical than ever.

    These are more than numbers.

Behind every number is a mother doing everything she can to protect her child.

And a newborn entering the world under circumstances they never chose.

Yet the birth of a child should always be a moment of hope.

That is why International Humanitarian Relief (IHR) launched the Mother & Baby Care Campaign — to stand beside mothers and newborns in Gaza from the very first moments of life.

More Than a Care Kit — A Dignified Start to Life

The Mother & Baby Care Campaign provides mothers and their newborns with a comprehensive package of essential supplies for the critical first weeks after birth.

The kit placed in a mother’s hands is more than clothing and hygiene supplies.

It provides:

Warmth for a baby born amid displacement.

Care for a mother exhausted by pregnancy and childbirth.

Dignity for a family struggling to meet even its most basic needs.

Our response includes soft cotton essentials for newborns, hygiene and personal-care supplies, clothing for mothers and babies, as well as essential vitamins and nutritional supplements for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
