The standard rate for zakat is 2.5% (1/40) of a Muslim’s eligible wealth. You  are required to give away 2.5% of their savings and investments to eligible recipients.

Zakat is given to The Poor & The Needy, Those in Debt, Administrators of Zakat, Travellers (Including Refugees), Those who have been Enslaved, & Hearts that have been reconciled to Islam (New Converts)
